The folks over at miHoYo, the developers behind Genshin Impact, have announced that PlayStation 4 support for the popular live service game will be ending officially on April 8, 2026. Genshin Impact support for PlayStation 5 will remain ongoing and is not affected by this decision.
Here’s what they had to say in the announcement.
“Thank you for your continued support and love for Genshin Impact on PS4®! Due to limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size, we will be discontinuing support and updates for Genshin Impact on PS4® in future versions.”
The discontinuation of Genshin Impact on PS4 will be rolling out in three phases, beginning next month.
Phase 1: Beginning on September 10, Genshin Impact will be removed from the PlayStation Store on PS4. While those who have already downloaded the game will continue to be able to do so, those who have not will not have access to the game.
Phase 2: In-game purchases for Genshin Impact will be discontinued on February 25, 2026.
Phase 3: Support for Genshin Impact on PS4 officially ends on April 8, 2026. All updates will cease, and PS4 players will no longer be able to log into the game through a PlayStation 4 console. If a player has any in-game items they’ve yet to claim, they can do so by logging into the game through a PlayStation 5.
