MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls was available to play for the first time in Las Vegas over the weekend. But players who didn’t attend this year’s Evolution Championship Series (Evo) will be getting their shot to play the anticipated Marvel-based fighting game next month. A closed beta for the game on PlayStation 5 was announced for the weekend of September 5, and you can sign up to participate on PlayStation.com.
The MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls closed beta will feature six available characters, including Captain America, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Storm, and Doctor Doom. Only the New York City map will be playable, but all three combat areas of the map (City Center, Avengers Park and Hell's Kitchen) will be accessible during gameplay.
Additionally, players selected to join the closed beta will get to experience the game’s 64-player lobby featuring chibi versions of Marvel characters. From this special lobby, you can spectate matches and participate in “Startup Battles” that are designed to help hone skills using CPU opponents.
