Season 2 of the Twisted Metal series just got a debut date and trailer

Almost two years after the debut of Twisted Metal’s first season, Peacock has finally dropped the start date of the anticipated second season along with an action-packed trailer. Season 2 of Twisted Metal begins streaming on July 31 exclusively on Peacock, and it’ll finally be delivering the competition-based vehicular carnage that the 1995 video game series is known for.

The well-received first season of Twisted Metal had the show’s central protagonists, John Doe and Quiet, encountering plenty of trouble while traveling through a post-apocalyptic United States. While well-known characters like Sweet Tooth and Agent Stone made impactful appearances in the first season, the competition aspect of Twisted Metal was nowhere to be seen. Considering the name of the annual competition in the 1995 game is literally “Twisted Metal,” the absence of this critical part of the story was surprising.

We now know that the shadowy mastermind, Calpyso, and his bullet-laden Twisted Metal event will be front and center in Season 2. The trailer also revealed that Sweet Tooth, Stu, Axel, Dollface, and several other characters from the game series will be competing alongside the show’s heroes. And more importantly, iconic vehicles like Axel’s two-wheeled death machine and Sweet Tooth’s ice cream truck appear just as fans would expect them to.

Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz reprise their roles as John Doe and Quiet. While new cast additions like Michael James (Axel), Tiana Okoye (Dollface), and Richard de Klerk (Mr. Grimm) join the chaos. The homicidal clown, Sweet Tooth, will once again be played physically by Joe Seanoa and voiced by the hilarious Will Arnett.
