NetEase, the powerhouse publisher behind Marvel Rivals, has announced Blood Message, their first foray into single-player narrative gameplay that’s being developed in partnership with 24 Entertainment Lin’an. To go along with today’s press release, they also released a nearly 5-minute-long cinematic trailer that showcases the game’s top-notch visuals and action combat.
The game is being developed for both consoles and PC, although a release date was not revealed in today’s announcement.
Blood Message is a third-person period action-adventure game set during the Dunhuang Revolt at the tail end of the Tang Empire. Players control a nameless messenger carrying a critical message with fate-deciding implications for his homeland that’s been ravaged by war. The central protagonist makes this perilous 1,000-mile journey eastward with his son, surviving some of China’s treacherous terrain while crossing blades with the brutal opposition.
