In May, we reported on Hellblade II coming to PlayStation 5 for the first time later this summer. Today, we got a release date with Ninja Theory revealing that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced Edition is headed to Xbox Series X|S, PC via Xbox on PC and Steam, and PS5 on August 12. The Enhanced Edition introduces an all-new Performance Mode and other features that fans of the series can sink their teeth into.
Performance Mode allows for a constant 60 FPS, making gameplay more seamless and fluid–especially while in combat. While Performance Mode will be available on all platforms with the exception of Xbox Series S, PC players, who already enjoy the advantages of high-frame-rate gaming, can utilize the new “Very High” graphical preset for even more enhanced performance.
Additionally, the Enhanced Edition comes with an updated photo mode, more than four hours of developer commentary for fans who want more insight into the game’s creation, and the Dark Rot returns.
The new Dark Rot challenge mode offers a unique take on the permadeath trend prevalent in many modern single-player games. The Dark Rot plaguing Senua’s body spreads with each failure and, should the Dark Rot reach Senua’s head, the game is over. Exactly how many failures it takes before the player loses all progress is currently unknown, but the Dark Rot challenge mode should offer players looking for sadistic levels of difficulty a good time.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced Edition can be preordered on PS5 for $50. The Deluxe Edition will cost you $20 more and comes with additional goodies, including the original game, Hellblade: Senua’s Saga, and the Senua’s Sacrifice Original Soundtrack. If you already own Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II on Xbox or PC platforms, the Enhanced Edition will come as a free update.
