A new Lollipop Chainsaw game and anime are on the way

It’s been more than a decade since San Romero High School cheerleader Juliet Starling fought off zombie hordes in the original Lollipop Chainsaw. Now, thanks to the game’s cult following, along with the successful 2024 launch of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, a remastered version of the original game, Nada Holdings, in partnership with Dragami Games, has announced that an all-new Lollipop Chainsaw game and anime series are currently in development.

The project–appropriately called the Lollipop Chainsaw New Project–just launched its official X (formerly Twitter) account. The announcement was made via press release less than 24 hours ago, and we’ve been given no information on the new game’s story or characters. We don’t even know if this new title will be a direct sequel to the original, as the word “sequel” does not appear in today’s press release.

We do know, however, that honoring the outrageous tone and dark humor of the original cheeky hack-and-slash game is of the utmost importance to the development team.

“Under the strong partnership between NADA HOLDINGS and Dragami Games, development is already underway on a brand-new LOLLIPOP CHAINSAW title that both preserves and builds upon the appeal of the original,” Nada Holdings explains in the press release. “With a firm commitment to honoring the spirit of the original work, the development team includes key staff members who were involved in the previous title. The new project is also being developed with close attention to fan feedback.”

The original Lollipop Chainsaw launched in 2012 and was developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, in collaboration with Suda51 and James Gunn, the visionary filmmaker behind Guardians of the Galaxy and Superman (2025). According to the press release, between the original game and Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, the series has sold more than 1.5 million units, thereby confirming the IP’s popularity among players.

The press release provided no information on the upcoming Lollipop Chainsaw anime series, which was also announced.
