The Kingdom Hearts team has released several still images of Kingdom Hearts IV to satiate fans concerned about the anticipated sequel's fate. The post on X (formerly Twitter) was meant to reassure players that the game is still in development, despite the recent cancellation of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, a mobile action RPG set in the Kingdom Hearts world.
The images don’t reveal much of the story and gameplay we can expect from Kingdom Hearts IV; however, a lone screenshot of Mickey Mouse from the player’s perspective has raised eyebrows. Speculation is that players will finally be able to play as the iconic Disney mascot as part of the game’s narrative.
Kingdom Hearts IV was first announced in 2022 during the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary Event in Tokyo. Until this recent update, news on the game’s development has been non-existent. A release window for Kingdom Hearts IV has yet to be announced by Square Enix.
